The Red Zora & Her Gang

14. June @ 18:30 - 19:30 UTC+2

Free

The Red Zora and Her Gang is a Grade 8 class play about the adventures of Zora and a gang of children who live in a cave close to Walvis Bay, Namibia. To survive the children steal out of necessity. This brings them in conflict with the town’s residents who reject them except for Gorian, an old fisherman who decides to help the children.

The play also tells the story of the free Walvis Bay fishermen’s struggles against the fish factories’ control and their battle for the rights to fish without a license.

The Red Zora and Her Gang is a play of friendship, solidarity, and survival.

The drama  is based on the writings of Kurt Held, a Jewish writer displaced from Germany in the Second World War. It draws from his experiences with similarly orphaned children in Senj, Croatia.
